| Edale with its network of footpaths is where the Pennine Way starts and offers some of the finest walking in Britain. There is an abundance of wildlife and an owl and otter sanctuary nearby. Other activities include tennis, golf, swimming, mountain-biking and horse-riding. There are shops close by and many excellent pubs within a few minutes walk or drive. It makes an ideal base for visiting Ladybower & Derwent Resevoirs (The Dambusters) or for exploring Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall and the Roman Spa Town of Buxton (with its famous opera house and festival), Castletons unique Blue John Caverns and the market town of Bakewell. |
